3G (read: triji) is an abbreviation of the term in English: third-generation technology that is a standard used by the mobile phone version of the third [1]. This term is generally used in reference to the development of wireless phone technology. Through the 3G mobile phone users can have quick access to the internet to 348 kilobits per second while the tool is in the condition of still or moving as fast as pedestrians. [1]. This quick access is a mainstay of 3G is certainly capable of providing various facilities to the users like to watch video directly from the Internet or talk with others using video.


International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1999 has issued a standard known as IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunications-2000) that include GSM, EDGE, UMTS, CDMA, DECT and WiMax, which is under the 3G IMT-2000 standard is. In general, the ITU, as cited by the FCC to define 3G as a wireless solution that could provide access speeds:
-Amounted to 144 Kbps for fast-moving conditions.
-Amounted to 384 Kbps for mobile conditions.
-Amount of at least 2 Mbps for the condition of static or stationary users.

3G Technology

3G technology is divided into GSM and CDMA. 3G technology is often called a [[mobile broadband]] because of its superiority as a modem for the internet that can be taken anywhere.

The success of 3 G services in Europe and Japan was caused by factors:
1. Government support. The Japanese government does not charge in advance (upfront fee) for the use of spectrum licenses for 3G operators in Japan (there are three operators: NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and Vodafone). While the South Korean government, although the charge in advance, providing incentives and assistance in the development of broadband wireless (South Korea is a country that uses the Cisco Gigabit Switch Router in the world) as part of infrastructure development strategy.
2. Culture of the society. Services [video calls], which is predicted to be a killer application is not too much used in those two countries. However, services such as downloading music and Internet access is very popular. Operators such as NTT DoCoMo (Japan) gave Chaku Uta service to download music. While in Korea, the service [[Web Presence]] like Cyworld provided by SK Tel, very popular. Misunderstanding about 3G

There are some misconceptions about 3G in the general population:
1. 3G services can not be without any coverage of 3G services from operators. Just buy a 3G handset, does not mean that 3G services can be enjoyed. The handset can be automatically moved to the 3G network when, customers do not receive 3G coverage. So that when someone is moving and using the video call services, and then forced to switch to the 2G network, then the video call services will end.
2. 3G services are at a frequency of 1900 Mhz. ITU-T’s 3G services for GSM defines the frequency of 1900 MHz with a bandwidth of 60 MHz. However, in general, based on CDMA2000 technology uses spectrum in 800 Mhz frequency, or commonly known as the spectrum of PCS (Personal Communication System).
